One of the repeated questions of David throughout the Psalms is seen in our verses from yesterday and today:
Psalm 15:
Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?
Psalm 24:
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas
and built it on the ocean depths.
Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
David wonders, requests, begs, and ponders this question repeatedly. Who may approach, stand, or dwell on God’s holy mountain? But, David doesn’t just stop at his question. He provides us with the answer.
Psalm 15:
The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;
whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;
who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;
who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.
Psalm 24:
Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
who do not worship idols
and never tell lies.
They will receive the Lord’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God their savior.
Such people may seek you
and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.
It is not impossible for us to approach, stand, or even one day dwell with God on His holy mountain but only those who meet certain qualifications will be able to ascend His mighty mountain.
🏔️ Those who walk blameless.
🏔️ Those who tell the truth.
🏔️ Those who do not slander.
🏔️ Those who despise evil but fear the Lord.
🏔️ Those who keep their promises even when it is hard.
🏔️ Those who are consistent and reliable.
🏔️ Those who do not accept bribes or take advantage of the innocent.
🏔️ Those whose hearts and hands are pure.
🏔️ Those who worship ONLY God.
🏔️ Those that seek the Lord.
God will open His mountain to those but on to those willing to walk in His ways.
