When soldiers go to battle, they do not know what the outcome of the battle will be. Sometimes, the battle/war may go their way and they win. Sometimes, the battle/war does not go well and they lose. Sometimes, the battle/war may go well for the army but the individual soldier suffers injury and may even die. But regardless of the uncertainties, soldiers go to battle and they fight for their country and general. They face those unknowns with courage – the ability to continue to move forward despite your fears.
Soldiers in Christ’s army do not face those same uncertainties. Paul declares that we are guaranteed victory from God through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout the chapter 1 Corinthians 15, Paul emphasizes the importance of Christ’s resurrection and explains what it means for us personally. At the end of that incredibly meaningful discussion, Paul concludes:
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus conquered sin and death for us. The victory has already been won! So, unlike soldiers in earthly armies who must go into battle unsure of their fate, soldiers for Christ can go into battle boldly. We do not have to worry:
🪖 The battle against death and Satan as already been won. We already know the ending of the war.
🪖 And, as long as we continue to stand and fight with the Lord our soul’s fate has been secured.
These two realities should:
🪖 Embolden us to stand bravely on the frontlines for the Lord.
🪖 Motivate us to lead the charge for the Lord.
🪖 Fortify us when times get hard.
🪖 Stir us to take action.
🪖 Rally us together when the enemy advances.
The grave and spiritual death have been conquered. Jesus conquered them for us. Why not join the winning side? Fight the Lord. Let Him secure your soul! #SoldiersForChrist #TheLordisMyBanner

Great post. I love how you not only emphasized our future victory, but our current victory. People forget that we are partakers of christ’s death and ressurection now. The bible says that we are sitting in throne room of God with him. We start from victory, not uncertainty. Blessings.
