The Belt & Breastplate

The first two pieces of armor described by Paul are:

🪖 The belt of truth.
🪖 The breastplate of righteousness.

For a soldier their belt and chest protector are vital to survival. Your belt often holds other gear and connects the top part of your armor to the bottom. Without it, the entire ensemble would fall apart. Chest protectors or breastplates are an incredibly important for defense and protection. It protects most of your vital organs including the heart and lungs. It protects you during close combat and long distance assaults.

So it is no surprise that the belt and breastplate are the first gear pieces described by Paul.

🪖 Our belt is made up of God’s truth. God’s word is perfect in every day and provides us everything we need for any circumstance. It holds our entire armor kit together. With it, the rest of the armor ensemble falls off and no longer serves its purpose. Our entire kit hangs in God’s truth.

🪖 Our breastplate is made of righteousness. We must live according to God’s way which is morally right and justifiable. Putting on the righteousness of God and wearing it as our breastplate protects us from all the major assaults of the Devil. It creates a protective barrier over our heart and prevents Satan’s arrows from damaging our most vital organs.

Have you put in the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness? Without them, the rest of your gear will fall off and you’ll be left defenseless against Satan. #soldiersforChrist #TheLordIsMyBanner
