The Pacer Group

Running is both a group and an individual sport. No one can run for you (we will come back to this idea a little later) yet you can never race alone. It is what makes the sport so fun. The right group can help you nail your race; the wrong group could destroy your goals. If you run with the wrong pace group, you eventually start matching their pace which isn’t the pace you wanted to run. They may be too fast and you’ll struggle to finish the race. They may be too slow and you won’t reach your personal goal. You’ve got to find the right group.

Our spiritual run is the same. David tells us the wrong pace group can destroy our race. We can become too comfortable and start adopting the running technique and the pace of the wrong group. This often leads to major mistakes during in our run. And this is really easy to happen. We could start the race wrong and not finish. We could run the race too nonchalantly and not meet our goals. Our spiritual group is pivotal to finishing our race. The people we surround ourselves with set the tone for our we live our lives. We must remember that while we are told to influence others – others can definitely influence us. The influence they have can be good or bad. It all depends on the group.

So, be sure pick a pace group that is actually going to help you make it to heaven. Don’t pick a group that leads you to hell. Remember that while no one can run this race for you, you are also never running it alone. The runners you choose to run with will influence your run. Whether for good or ill depends on the group you choose. Choose wisely. #runningtherace
