God’s Cleansing Water

Cleaning is one of a gardener’s first priorities in the early Spring. Cleaning out and washing away grime, dead leaves, pulling weeds, and more. In order for the garden to look refreshed and ready for the spring and summer, a gardener must put the time in to clean it. The garden can’t do it on its own. It needs the gardener.

Solomon told us yesterday that we can never cleanse our our hearts. We cannot make our souls clean by ourselves. Ezekiel makes it clear who is the one who can cleanse your heart and make you clean.

Speaking for God as His prophet, Ezekiel proclaims to Israel “I will sprinkle clean water on you and you shall be cleansed of all your uncleannesses…”

God is the only one who can truly cleanse us of our impurities. Only God’s clean water can refresh and purify our hearts and souls. He wants to do they for us but we have to want to be part of His garden. Ezekiel later says that God will us a clean new heart and spirit. This new heart and spirit, cleansed for all sin, will want carefully obey His laws. And it doing so we will dwell the land God has prepared for us.

Gardeners only clean out their gardens. I do not go to my neighbors or a strangers yard and start cleaning out their gardens. I work and clean out mine because it is mine. God will only cleanse our hearts and purify our souls with His cleaning water IF we are part of His garden. But if we become part of His garden, He will cleanse our hearts and give us a new heart and spirit. We will walk and grow in His ways and He will bring us to the land He has prepared for us at the end of all things.

🧑‍🌾 Who can cleanse your heart and make you fresh and new? Only God.
🧑‍🌾 Who will God make clean? Only those who want to grow in His garden. #lessonsfromthemastergardener
