Welcome

Welcome to Adonai’s Appeal – a blog dedicated to examining and mediating on the Scriptures and sharing those lessons with the world. It is designed to encourage and motivate its readers to dwell more on the word of God and spread His message to the world. The blog will feature shorter devotionals, longer Biblical discussions, and thematic Scripture readings. The theme for blog is found in II Corinthians 5:20:

“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we implore you on Christ’s behalf; be reconciled to God.

Throughout our time together, we will reflect on what it means to be an ambassador for Christ. How can we do this appropriately? What does this mean? Why is it so important to our walk with God that we serve as His ambassador? Related to the meaning of ambassadorship, God implores each of us to individually serve him. It is not a large collective or “group” calling to work for Him but a very personal and individual responsibility. What are those responsibilities? How can we meet them? He implores me (and you) to work for Him personally and with others personally. Our walk with God is personal and our work for Him must be personal as well. We will explore why is our Christian walk is intended to be a personal and intimate with God and others.  Finally, we will discuss and try to come to a better understanding of God’s appeal to us and the world. God’s most fundamental plea to the world is to be reconciled to Him. What does this mean? How does one to become reconciled? What does that process look like? Once reconciled, what other appeals does God make of us? Ultimately, God’s most important to appeal to the reconciled is to be ambassadors for Him in the world. How can we do that the most effectively? Why is that so important?

As Christians we are called to serve as ambassadors for Christ in this world. Christ calls us to be the light and salt of the earth (Matt. 5: 13 – 16). Our lives are to be dedicated to serving God primarily by spreading God’s appeal to the world. What is God’s message? Be reconciled to Him. The Apostle Peter tells us that God is longsuffering and does not want any to perish but that instead wants all to repent and turn back to Him (II Peter 3:9). This is God’s message to the world. And, our primary purpose as followers of Christ is to share that message to a lost and dying world. It is a high and hard calling yet one that God expects from those who decide to give their lives back to Him.

Adonai, the Lord of lords and Master of the universe, could have made us all to serve Him. Yet instead God gives us a choice. He gives each and every one of us a choice to serve Him and be an ambassador for Him or to serve ourselves (Matt. 6:24). The choice comes with consequences both in this life and in the next but make no mistake “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Phil. 2:10).” We will all bow and confess Jesus one day. It is your choice whether you bow and confess willingly with a penitent heart or unwillingly with wailing and gnashing of teeth (Luke 13:28). As Joshua cautioned the Israelites: You can either serve Adonai – the God of the Universe or the gods of this earth. Choose but choose wisely (Joshua 24: 14 – 24).
