Weeds vs. Plants

No gardener wants weeds. They pull them out and destroy them.

Jesus tells a parable about weeds and gardeners. In this story, a gardener plants his garden and while his workers were asleep and the enemy snuck in and threw out weed seeds with the good seeds. The plants starting growing the servants asked the gardener how this had happened and what they should do. The master told them their enemy had snuck in and planted weeds with through good plants. He then told his workers to tell them grow but when it was time to harvest, gather up all the weeds in bundles and destroy them. They were to keep only the wheat.

So, what’s the take away from Jesus’ parable?

Satan secretly plants weeds to try to destroy God’s harvest. But when the time comes God will not be confused nor will he destroy the entire crop because or the weeds. Instead, He will remove all the weeds – those souls who never let God’s word take root in their heart – and destroy them. He will know which plants are His and which are weeds. Those that are his will be harvest and kept in His barn. The weeds will be destroyed.
