Welcome to February! This month, we will explore the Four Loves of the Bible. Scripture reveals four distinct kinds of love:
Storge – Familial or affectionate love
Phileo – Friendship or brotherly love
Eros – Passionate or romantic love
Agape – Selfless or unconditional love
These loves reflect the diverse ways God communicates love to us and through us. Each week, we will dive into what each love means, how it is expressed in Scripture, and practical ways we can show that love in our daily lives.
The Apostle John reminds us:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us.” — 1 John 4:7–12
Because God is love, we are called to understand what love truly is so that we can love as He loves. Until we are fully reunited with Him, it is love—true love—that most clearly reveals God in this world.
Let’s learn the love languages of the Bible so that by loving as God loves, the world may see Him more clearly through our lives. #FourLoves #LoveLanguages
