I recently went with a very close friend to Guadalupe National Park. We camped for two nights in a yurt and it was a fantastic time. My friend and I love the outdoors. The more time outside the better. One of the things we were most looking forward to was the sunsets and the night skies. We stayed in a place devoid of light, electricity, and sound. We had our little camp fire and the sky. And let me tell you – it was the first time I saw the Milky Way with my own eyes. It was glorious. We often just sat in silence and looked up at the universe. We watched the storms over the mountains and marveled at what God has made for us. It was an amazing trip.
Why is it important to stop, reflect on, and remember the wonders of God? Like the stars we saw those two nights, the reasons are unending.
It helps you remember your place in this world and universe. We are just one soul in the world’s entire history of souls. Just one person. The world does not revolve around us. Our problems are in fact not the only problems out there. We are so insignificant when compared to God’s universe.
Yet, this one soul was created by a God so powerful and loving that He made the whole universe for us to enjoy. He WANTS us to enjoy what He has made. He made the stars for us to stare at for hours. He created flowers for us to stop and smell. He made animals for us to love and care for. He made the sun to warm our skin. The lightning in the stormy skies. The ocean waves. The full harvest moon. The mountains and all their splendor. Everything. He made it all so we can stop and marvel at God’s creative and awesome power.
And yet, because we are human and God allows us to make up our own minds if we will praise and follow Him. Humanity messed up God’s perfect world with our sins. Sin cursed His creation (so image nature BEFORE the curse of sin came into this world – what a sight to behold.) Yet, this almighty creative genius and eternally merciful God loved us enough to create a pathway back to Him. So, He willingly came back to this earth as a man – Jesus – and died for us because of our sins. Why? So, we could one day be reunited with Him in His perfect universe.
So, when you are having a bad day? Or the cares of this world have worn you down. Stop and look around you. Absorb all the marvelous wonders of God. And then remember – that the God who made all of this (including you) came to this earth to die to save your soul from sin and death. And, there is nothing more wondrous than the love of God. #Remember

Beautiful!
