What does it mean to remember? Its basic definition is “to bring to mind or think of again” or “to retain in the memory.” When we remember something we are calling something back from our memory. We are moving something forward that we’ve placed behind. We are taking something from the back burner and placing it on the front hot burner.
Why do you remember? Sometimes we remember because we want to call back to a pleasant memory to bring us comfort and joy. Sometimes we remember to avoid making the same mistakes. Sometimes we remember how to do something we’ve not done in a while. Sometimes we remember to put things into perspective. The list can go on and on.
Needless to say -remembering is a key function of our mind. It stores all of our memories – the good and the bad – and we can call on those memories to help us through this life.
So what is the most important thing for us to remember as we walk through this life?
Solomon tells us plainly: in all you do remember Him and He will keep your way straight (Pro. 3:6)
We remember God in everything we do. We should think back on all He has done and is doing for us And keep in the front of our minds all His instructions and commandments. Why? Because it we do – God will make sure to keep our path straight. He will make sure we don’t take a wrong turn and don’t get lost along the way. And when we do, He’ll be there telling us to turn around.
So, as we begin to wind down 2024 and start to think about 2025 – Remember God and He will keep your path straight. #Remember
