When finally preparing to cross into the Promised Land, Moses told the children of Israel that they would face strong and powerful enemies who lived in large cities with massive walls. But He told them not to fear because
The Lord your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue them before you…
God’s fire would devour all their enemies. He would destroy them for the children of Israel. God would not leave them alone to fight against their enemies; instead, He would go before them and devour His enemies.
God’s fire consumes not just the idols and the wicked but it also devours the enemies of the righteous.
While we will not see God’s fire rain down from heaven on our enemies in this light, be assured that God’s fire will one day devour the enemies of the people of God. Just like Moses promised the Israelites, God’s fire will consume the enemies of the righteous. He will not leave us alone and defenseless. He carefully watches everything that happens here and knows who stands against His chosen people. As long as we stand with God, He will subdue our enemies.
We have two options:
🔥 We can be part of God’s chosen people and be protected by and from His devouring fire.
🔥 We can be an enemy of God and His chosen people and be devoured by His fire.
There is no third option. So choose carefully which path you will follow. One leads to life. One leads to death. #GodsConsumingFire
