Never Give Up

Ultimately, no matter the outcomes soldiers hope to fight well and win the war. Soldiers want to stay true to the cause, their fellow soldiers, and their leader. It is no different for soldiers of Christ.

In 2 Timothy, in some of his final words, Paul wrote to Timothy his protege in the faith. Paul is the older, scarred, tired, and rugged soldier. He gives Timothy the younger soldier some parting words. His letter provides warnings, encouragement, advice, and hope. He concludes with this:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Paul (and most likely Timothy) knew he did not have long in this world. Instead of letting that sadness discourage Timothy, Paul confirms to Timothy it is all worth it. Paul confidently says he fought the good fight – the fight for the Lord. He kept his faith until the end. Because of this, Paul proclaims he knows Jesus is waiting to give him a crown of righteousness.

But Paul doesn’t stop there. He tells Timothy that all
who fight the good fight and keep the faith will receive a crown of righteousness. In other words, stay strong Timothy, and you too will receive a crown.

No matter your situation, circumstance, and fate here ion earth, keep fighting. Push forward. Do not give up. All of Christ’s soldiers will receive their crown of righteousness and eternal victory with the Lord. #soldiersforChrist #TheLordIsMyBanner
