Today is Memorial Day in the United States. It is a day when we remember and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Soldiers for Christ have and will die. Some die very violently and suddenly (similar to those honored on our Memorial Day); some die after years of fighting for Christ and His cause. Until then Lord returns, all soldiers for Christ will die in the spiritual battle against Satan and sin.
God sees the death of His soldiers. None one soldier’s death is unseen by Jehovah. Whether our death comes at the hands of His enemies or because our physical body gives out, our death is precious in God’s sight. Some translations read: God cares deeply for the death of His servants or How painful it is for God when His servants die.
When God originally made man, He did not want us to suffer death yet sin destroyed God’s hope and intention. God mourns for His servants because we have to experience death. He cares deeply for us. He knows how hard this battle is and every soldier that dies on the battlefield pricks His heart.
God loves us. He has defeated spiritual death for us He has equipped for in every possible way for this spiritual battle. Our victory in this battle is guaranteed.
But, while we are spiritual beings, our spirits are temporarily housed in physical bodies. We must still all face our physical death. This reality and the death of His servants grieves God. He knows how scary and painful death can be.
And every soldier for Christ will die a physical death until the Lord’s return. But…
No soldier’s death is unseen.
No soldier’s death is unremembered.
No soldier’s death goes ungrieved.
Every death is seen by the Creator of the universe and pains Him. Our lives are precious to Jehovah. #soldiersforChrist #TheLordIsMyBanner
