God not only guarantees us victory if we are part of His army – He declares that we are more than conquerors. And the verb here is important – we ARE more than conquerors not we WILL BE but WE ARE ALREADY.
So many times we – soldiers of Christ – believe we are waiting for our victory and waiting to become a conqueror but Paul puts those ideas to rest. He proclaims that because of God’s love and Jesus’ sacrifice, we are already conquerors. If we enlist and join God’s army, we are conquerors over the sin in our life and over the hold Satan had on our soul. We have fought against the Devil and won! We are already conquerors.
Paul also describes us as MORE than just conquerors. Conquerors glory in just their victories but God’s conquerors also glory in their trials, sufferings, persecutions, and afflications. We understand that while we can glory in our victory over Satan and our sin the more important glory is in the trials and sufferings we experience because we are part of God’s army. Why? Because we find value and meaning in what the world would consider losses and we use those losses to strengthen and build up our faith – not allow them to destroy our faith. We also understand that through our suffering God’s power and glory shine even brighter.
Join the Lord’s army and become MORE than a CONQUEROR! Become a soldier and a servant for the Lord. Let Him help you to defeat sin in your life and free yourself from the chains of the Devil.
