If soldiers are not occupied with defense, they engage in offense. They are advancing – moving forward – and taking territory. They are making gains for their commander. They are attacking the enemy.
It is no different for soldiers of Christ. We are either engaged in defensive stands – fighting off the Devil and protecting others – or we are advancing and fighting forward for Christ. Paul tells us this is a good fight. It is the only fight that matters. He proclaims to Timothy:
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses!
What does this mean:
πͺ Fighting for Christ is something we are expected to do. It is not optional. We must fight. It is the only fight that matters. It is the good fight – the fight for faith.
πͺ Fighting is the only way we can grasp hold of eternal life. Why will God award us eternal life with Him in glory if we do not and are not willing to fight for Him and for it? Why would God welcome us into the victory field if we have not fought for it?
πͺ Fighting for the Lord is our true calling. Our souls were made to be part of God’s army. We were made to stand with Him in glory but He does not force us to take part. He calls out to us to enlist – to volunteer – but He never forcibly drafts us. We must volunteer and answer the call to fight in the Lord’s army.
πͺ The first step in is fighting for the Lord and taking hold of eternal life is to confess Jesus as Lord and Savior and not just quickly in your heart. Confess Him before multiple witnesses. Confess Him with your mouth. Confess Him with your life. Make Him Lord of your life and in doing so you will have enlisted in His army and join the greatest fighting force this world has ever known.
Soldiers defend.
Soldiers fight.
But remember, our Lord does not conscript – He only accepts volunteers. So, confess His name, obey His voice, and follow His commands. #SoldierForChrist #TheLordIsMyBanner
