Soldiers are focused – single-minded when in battle. They cannot afford to be distracted by issues or affairs outside of the battlefield while they are fighting. Distraction leads to disaster.
Paul reveals to Timothy that the affairs of this life are distractions from our spiritual battle. He plainly states a soldier does not become entangled in the affairs of this life so that he may be pleasing to Him who enlisted him.
Three big takeaways from Paul’s statement.
🪖 The cares and affairs of this life are distractions. They are not where our focus as a soldier for Christ should be. Our focus should be on the spiritual battlefield.
🪖 Our earthly cares entangle us. They are traps. They cause us to trip and fall. On the battlefield, they are akin to barbed wire or trip wire. If we don’t pay attention, we can allow the cares of this life trip to be up and we will become trapped and left exposed to the enemy.
🪖 We remain focused on the battle to please God who has enlisted us in His army to stand against the powers of Satan and his minions on this earth. We serve on God’s front lines. He needs us to be focused and ever pushing the line forward. Not looking back or around us in fear but looking ahead and working to achieve God’s mission.
Don’t let the cares of this life distract you. They are the tripwires, booby traps, and barb wires of Satan. He wants to entrap you and entangle you. He wants you isolated from the group and exposed. Instead, focus on God’s mission. Move forward. Trust in God – He will never lead you astray. #soldiersforChrist #TheLordIsMyBanner
