Soldiers wage war. It is one of their primary functions. They’ve got to be on the battlefield and engaged at right front. In order to fight in the battle they’ve got to know where the battle is taking place.
Paul tells us as soldiers for Christ our battlefield isn’t an earthly location. While we live on this earth, our battlefield is in another realm. We do not make or right this war physically or according to the flesh. We are soldiers in a spiritual war.
This may seem like a very basic point but I want you to think for a moment how many physical wars have been waged for God. How much physical fighting and warring as taken place in the name of God? If you span the annals of history, you’ll find that number to be quite alarming.
But God doesn’t want us to wage war for Him in our physical realm. God doesn’t want us to convert or teach people using the edge of a sword or gun. No. We are not soldiers in a physical army. We are not making war for God in this physical plane.
We are spiritual soldiers fighting a spiritual war. We must first recognize this reality. God does not want us to use physical violence or fight physical wars for Him. BUT – He does expect us to fight for Him on the spiritual battlefield.
Battlefield are dangerous places. They are sad places. They are scary places. They are dark places. They are places of death and violence. And while we may not see it, the spiritual battlefield has the same traits as a physical battlefield. Since we can’t see this battlefield, it makes it harder to fight there and more dangerous for us to be there.
🪖 There are dangers everywhere in this spiritual battlefield. Satan and His army have set out traps and mines. Their artillery rains down on the battlefield.
🪖 It is a sad place – a place of death – because we are constantly in the presence of the spiritually dead. The dead are all around us.
🪖It is a dark and scary place. We are deep in enemy lines. There is little light for us to see right now. We are outnumbered but keep pushing forward knowing our general is coming but not knowing when.
🪖 It is a place of violence. The fighting never ends. This spiritual battlefield is has old as time. And the Devil is actively and always looking to kill as many of Christ soldiers as possible. He will never stop his war. This battlefield will always to be a place of spiritual violence and fighting…until the Lord returns.
Our battlefield may not be a physical place but it is just as dangerous as a physical battlefield. Yet God expects us to enter the fray. He expects us to fight for Him on the spiritual battlefield. #TheLordIsMyBanner #soldiersforChrist
