Be watchful.

When you’re running especially if you’re running alone, you’ve got to be watchful. As a female runner who only ever runs alone, I am constantly watching out for dangers in my run. Just last weekend I was chased by a small pack of dogs – even after I tried to avoid them. I watch out for other runners. I watch out for repeating cars. I watch out for parked cars. I try to always be on guard. I never want to be unprepared or surprised.

Peter tells us this is the same approach for running out spiritual race. The Devil is out lurking and prowling along our race to heaven. He is actively trying to prevent us from reaching the finish line. Peter tells us we must be watchful and sober minded.

👟 We must be watchful. We must keep our eyes open to any possible snares the Devil has laid. We must always be looking for Him – he is a master of disguise and hiding. We must always be actively looking for him.
👟 We must be sober minded or serious. We cannot afford to not take the Devil seriously. It is when we let our guard down that He is most likely to strike and attack. If we aren’t serious or sober then we won’t notice when he puts on wrong direction markers.

The Devil is real. Peter calls him our adversary akin to a hungry lion prowling for his next meal. We must always be watching out for Him and his traps on our race to heaven. All he wants is to trip us up, get us lost, and wound us so seriously we quit running.

👟Open your eyes.
👟Look both ways while you running.
👟Pay attention to your surroundings.
👟Be aware of possible dangers.
👟Know the actual running path.

The Devil will not quit trying to destroy your run to God until you take your last breath. So be watchful. Be sober minded. #runningtherace
