Running takes strength but the longer the run goes the less and less strength you have. It’s not because you haven’t trained or prepared but because the run is long. You’ve used loads of your strength already to get there. So, what runners do is they take fuel with them to help to consume along the way to restore their fuel and strength reserves. It’s important to have the source to help rejuvenate your strength because the run is long and your body runs out of strength along the way unless you bring back up sources.
Our spiritual run is the same. It’s a long run and if we go at it without any backup fuel and sources of strength then this life will beat even the best of us down. But we don’t want to run our race without a source of fuel. We don’t have to run this long race with additional reservoirs of strength.
In one of David’s last recounted prayers to God in 2 Samuel, David declares that the Lord is his source of power and strength. He makes the path perfect. God makes David’s feet to run like the deer again – quick and agile and bounding with energy.
We don’t have to run alone. If we turn to God and allow Him to be our source of refueling along the long race of our life, He will deliver. He will give us a renewed since of strength and power to keep running. He will give us energy to run quickly again.
Don’t try to run this long spiritual race without the proper fuel. Turn to God and let Him fuel your spirit along the long road. He will give you want you need to finish and to finish strong. #runningtherace
