Welcome to the month of April!
This month we will be focusing on the parallels between physical running and spiritual running. Running the spiritual race and other fitness analogies are used frequently in Scriptures so we are going to do a deep dive into Running our Spiritual Race.
For today, I want to encourage to download or save our April reading list. You find the list pinned at the top of our FCBK page or visit our website (https://adonaisappeal.com/2024/03/31/running-the-race-april-scripture-reading-guide/) to download and save.
Lastly, I want us to consider something Paul tells Timothy:
“Bodily exercise profits little but godliness is profitable in all things…”
I love exercise, fitness, and running. I find it relaxing and therapeutic. It is rewarding. It is necessary for a healthy life. Loads of people are super obsessed with fitness and exercise. Some even turn it into a 21sr century idol. But it isn’t the most important activity out there. In fact, Paul reminds Timothy it actually profits little compared to godly exercise.
We are all going to die. Our physical bodies age and one day they will give out on us. Those are the facts. But our soul – it is never going to die. So it is vastly more important that we whip our soul into shape and focus on its health and fitness.
Bodily exercise will profit us healthy bodies but godly exercise profits us of eternal life with God. One far outweighs the other.
Since we have human bodies and like here on earth, the Scriptures repeatedly use physical fitness and running analogies to help us understand spiritual fitness and exercise.
So:
👟 Get out your spiritual equipment and gear.
👟 Lace up your spiritual shoes.
👟 Prepare to run the most important race of your life. #runningtherace
