Here’s the thing about gardening and farming – it’s hard work especially in the ground planting. Don’t get me wrong pot planting is hard too but it’s not nearly as hard as in the ground gardening. Whether you’re a farmer or a gardener, in the ground planting is hard hard work. And if you try to take short cuts, whatever you’re trying to grow most likely won’t make it. Working the land is all about making it inhabitable for seeds and baby plants. They won’t survive if you plant them in a harsh hostile environment. They need a healthy friendly environment to survive and thrive.
Solomon tells us we to approach life in this manner. We shouldn’t waste our time or try to take shortcuts because that will only lead to poverty and ruin. Instead, if we work hard God will ensure that we have what we need.
Now, does that mean God will ensure you have everything you want? No. We are only promised to have “plenty of bread” aka necessities.
Ask any West Texas cotton farmer, working the land doesn’t always mean you will grow a spectacular crop. Sometimes weather or hail or heat destroy the benefits of your hard work. Sometimes when we work hard in this life and don’t get the end results we wanted we often think or say something negative about God. But if we were to truly assess our life without our personal self interest perspective we would see that while we may not have everything we WANT we have everything we NEED.
Ultimately, what does God’s wisdom here teach us?
🧑🌾 Work hard and God will provide all that you need.
🧑🌾 Don’t follow empty or meaningless pursuits – it only leads to ruin and poverty.
🧑🌾 God doesn’t always provide what we WANT but He will always provide what we NEED.
So, get to work and God will make sure you have what you need. #lessonsfromthemastergardener
