The Importance of Watering

I grew up with gardeners and farmers. My PapPaw was a farmer and gardener. My mother followed right in his footsteps. To this day when I call my mom in the spring and summer months, there is a strong likelihood she is watering her plants. It is a time consuming task but one that is incredibly important to her because she loves her plants and garden and in central Texas she’s got to make sure they get the water they need.

Watering is such an important part of being a gardener and grower. You’ve got to pre water/pre soak. You’ve got consistently water. You’ve got to know how much water and when to water. You’ve got to know what is TOO much water. Why is all this so important? Water is one of the foundational elements for life. All plants need it to grow and thrive.

Out here in West Texas watering is even more important. It rarely rains. It’s incredibly windy. It is very hot. You’ve got to be very intune with the watering needs of your plants otherwise they’re done for. You’ve got to put in the time and effort to water each plant appropriately.

Solomon equates watering plants to sharing blessings with others. He tells us whoever enriches the lives of others will be enriched and whoever waters himself will be watered.

The point is simple and clear. Whoever shares with and cares for others will in turn be enriched and blessed.

Just like a gardener who carefully waters their plants is blessed with the blooms and produce of their time consuming task, we are enriched when we share and care with and for others.

So, don’t hoard your blessings. Share them so they can help others grow and flourish. And in turn, you will be enriched. #lessonsfromthemastergardener
