Prepare for work!

Preparing is a gardening bread and butter. You’ve got to prepare the ground, planter boxes, and pots. Otherwise, if you don’t and you try to grow new plants in unprepared soil, generally speaking, they won’t last long and will die. Gardeners have to take the time to prepare if they want to have success growing.

Solomon tells us this is also how we should approach our life. We just first prepare the soil and get everything ready for your field work. Only after we’ve done the prepared for the work should be build the house. You don’t start building until you’ve prepared the outside field for the work. In modern language, don’t put the cart before the horse.

Preparing can be boring. It’s not as exciting as building and starting something new. But God tells us that it is unwise to skip the preparation part of our work. Whatever you’re trying to create or build or grow won’t last or it won’t have quality if you don’t spend the time preparing for it.

We’ve got to put the work in on the front end to see true dividends on the back end.
