My roses are starting to grow their new leaves. I am just so excited. However, I need to go and prune back the branches that died during the winter. If I don’t, the plant will waste resources and energy sending food and water to that branch trying to wake it up. But it’s dead, it serves no purpose. It weighs the rest of the bush down. By pruning out the dead, I also make those branches that are alive healthier and less susceptible to sickness or death.
This is how God approaches us. Those of us who claim to be part of His bushes or vines but don’t actually do what He says or produce fruits of righteous then we are considerable a dead branch. God prunes away the branches that do not abide in His ways. They are fruitless and useless. They are dangerous to the health of the living branches.
Every gardener knows the value of pruning. We sharpen our shears and remove the dead and dying branches to promote the health of the plant. God is no different.
🧑🌾Does God want there to be dead branches? No.
🧑🌾Does God enjoy pruning and destroying the dead branches? No.
🧑🌾Does God want useless and dangerous branches coexisting with His healthy ones? No.
🧑🌾 Will God do everything He can to help save the branch? Yes.
🧑🌾 Will God actually destroy the branches that are not contributing to His bushes? Yes.
Don’t become a useless or dead branch in God’s garden. Abide in His ways. Obey His laws. Learn from His chastisements. God has and will do everything He can to help you be a healthy fruitful branch but ultimately it’s your decision to either obey God or not that will dictate the your status in His garden.
God is always walking His garden. He helps His garden to grow by watering and feeding it AND by removing the dangerous branches and weeds from the garden.
Abide in God’s law so that you can abide eternally in His garden. #lessonsfromthemastergardener
