If we are to have godly love then our love must prioritize God over wealth or earthly success.
It is so easy to get caught up in the rat race of this world. Constantly working for more money, accolades, perks, promotions, etc. All those things give us more attention and more money. We bask in our success attention and spend our pay raises. But it is never enough so we become a hamster on its wheel running and running but never toward anything meaningful.
Jesus tells us we can only have one real master in our life. We either will love God or we will love worldly things like wealth and success. You cannot love both equally. And over time, you will grow to hate one and worship the other.
We cannot put anything above our love for God. If we do, then God isn’t really Lord and Master of our life. And over time, our attempts to “love” both will fail and we will grow to despise God because of our conscience deep down knows we’ve chosen poorly and because God stands against everything we’ve become – a selfish worldly person.
So, if we are to have godly love we must prioritize our life. We must center our life around God. He must always be at the top of our list. Nothing should ever even come close to His stop.
Since it’s the start of a new work week, really reflect on who you have made your master. You cannot have two. You will either love God and serve Him. Or, you will love this world and serve yourself.
So, how does godly love act? It prioritizes God above all else. #LoveActs
