We are all friends to someone and most of us have siblings (for those who don’t you may be close to a cousin or incredibly close to a friend). We all have friends we consider siblings – we love them like a brother or sister. Our love for those individuals needs to be consistent through good times and bad times.
Solomon tells us a true friend loves at ALL times and a brother is born for adversity.
Our love should be present in all of our friendships at all times. We should show our love for our friends through good times and bad times. Our love should be constant and consistent. Our friends should never doubt or question our love.
It is our deep love for our siblings or those we see as siblings that causes us to stand with them through adversity. We stand by each other through hard and tragic times. These individuals know they can depend on us through the hardest of times and that we will serve as a rock to them through their life storm. And we know the same about them.
These relationships are incredibly important because they are the relationships that help us make in through life and the relationships that help us get to heaven.
Jesus called His followers (at the time and future) His friends and brothers. (John 15) Jesus is both our friend and our brother. He loves us at all times and stands with us through adversity. And He wants us to be the same to Him and to others.
So, how does Godly love act?
It loves at all times – good times and bad times. It is constant. It is consistent. #LoveActs
