To be steadfast means to be firmly fixed into place – not subject to change.
To be faithful is to be steadfast in affection and loyalty.
God’s love for us is steadfast. His love does not change nor will it ever change. It is firmly fixed into place. Nothing, outside of our own decisions, can separate us from God’s love. He will love us until the end of time
God’s love for us therefore faithful. He is firm and fixed in His affection and loyalty to us. Everything God does is for us. And regardless of how many times we let Him down and are unfaithful to Him with our love, He is faithful with us until the end of time.
Steadfast love means we must be firmly fixed in our love for God and others. No matter what happens and no matter how hard it gets and no matter how alone we feel and no matter how tired we get – we must remain firmly fixed in our love for God and for others. Why? Because that is how God love us.
Faithful love means we must be loyal and true to God and others regardless of the situation. When our friends disappoint us or when we feel like God has abandoned us, our love must remain faithful. We cannot look to something else – our affection and loyalty must remain unchanged. Why? Because God is faithful to us. When we disappont Him and when we abandon Him, He still loves us and is always waiting for us to return and willing to take us back.
We must love God no matter how hard life becomes. We must love others even when they hurt and disappoint us. Why? Because it is how God loves us – steadfastly and faithfully.
Today is the Lord’s Day. We worship and praise and servant the Lord God – Jehovah who is faithful and steadfast in His love for thousands upon thousand of generations.
