Our first lesson in love from God’s love is selflessness.
God loved the world – He love you and me – so much He gave up His only son to die for our sins. He sent His only son from their home in heaven down to earth. God sent his son down not as a prince but as a pauper. His son didn’t come to lord over us but to save us. Instead, Jesus came to this world humbly. And He followed His father’s example and lived and loved selflessly all the way on the cross.
God’s love teaches us to be selfless. We must be willing to let go of our own prized possession, dreams, interests, or even beloved family members to serve God. Anything that stands between us and God we must let go. We must also love others more that our own interests and desires. We must be willing to always put them first even if that comes at a cost to us. We must selflessly love God and others as He loved us.
