Called to Meditate on God

Today is the Lord’s day!

And today we get to really focus on one of our more important callings – meditation.

David writes

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seats of scoffers BUT his delight is in the law of the Lord and he meditates in it both day and night.” Psalm 1

One of our most important callings is to focus on God and to take delight and joy in His words and laws. While this sounds easy, it is very difficult. The world is constantly pulling our minds in different directions. We are constantly tempted to fill our minds with sinful thoughts or content. That content can rage for things like pornography to range tweeting/posting to mindless hours ways scrolling through reels and TikToks to endless angered fill news watching. Satan is a mastermind at disguising sin. And he is so good at it – first your just walking with sin, then your standing still with it having a chat, and eventually your sitting comfortably with it and those who engage in it. Satan will do anything and put forth anything that could fill our minds with sin instead of God.

So, how do we combat all the noise? Meditation.

Meditation is to engage in contemplation or reflection. It is to engage in a mental exercise for the purpose of reaching a heightened awareness.

We are to meditate on God.

So, slow your mind down. Turn off the TV. Put down the phone. Sit in quiet or with soft music. Empty your mind of everything but God. Think about what He has done for you. Think about what He is doing for you. Think about what He will do for you. Take it all in. Breathe slowly in and out as you reflect on the awesomeness of God.

I do this every morning while I script out day’s post. It is amazing how much this will do for you mindset and your mind. My mind fills with God and His laws. I start every day as best I can with a mind full of God. This mind is ready to take on the day Satan is about to throw at me. This mind is ready to find pleasure in Godly things. This mind is looking for God and His opportunities.

So, this brings us back to the Lord’s day. The day we refocus on minds back of Jehovah. We praise Him. We worship Him. We meditate on His goodness and laws.

We are called to empty our minds of useless and sinful garbage and instead fill them with God and His laws. We are called not to be distracted by this world but to meditate on God.

Free your mind of Satan’s devices and dwell on God’s greatness. In doing so, your mind and soul will soar to God and you will become the person God intended you to be. #CreatedForMore #APurposeDrivenLife
