This world is full of fighting, conflict, and tensions. Conflicts exist between people, groups, and countries. With the rise of social media, you can know fight with people you don’t even know and will never meet. There is strife everywhere.
This is why Jesus called us to be peacemakers.
It a world full of hate and war and fighting, we are to be the voices of peace. We are to be the ones brokering ceasefires. We are to be the authors of the peace treaties. Our job is to bring people together not participate in the growing strife and tension running rampant across this world.
How do we serve as peacemakers?
🕊️We think the best of others.
🕊️We are patient.
🕊️We exercise self control.
🕊️We are quick to hear, and slow to speak.
Why should be serve as peacemakers?
🕊️Christ is the prince of Peace and we are to imitate him.
🕊️God is the author of peace and unity, not confusion and we are to spread His message across this world.
🕊️Strife is one of Satan’s oldest tactics. It drives people apart and destroys lives. We are to combat the Devil daily.
How then do we reconcile Jesus call for us to be peacemakers with His statement later that He did not come to bring peace but the sword (Matthew 10)?
The answer is simple. God’s message is accepted by everyone. And while some will embrace peace and reconciliation with God, others will not. Those who refuse will be at odds with those who decide to give their lives to Christ. Christ message is one of peace, forgiveness, mercy, and obedience but many people do know what His message. Or, they only want bits and pieces of it. Therefore, their lack of submission to God puts them at odds not only with those who have submitted to God but to God Himself.
It is this last part that should prompt us to work endless to bring others to God. As peacemakers we should be striving to create peace on earth but more important we are to try to facilitate others to finding peace and reconciliation with God. We are to be the ones that help others make peace with God.
If we embrace are calling, Jesus says we will be sons of God because we are spreading God’s message and helping others find peace. We are combatting the Devil’s tactics. We bring peace to this world.
Become a peacemaker. Be the person God intended you to be. Help others find peace with God. Bring peace to your little corner of this strife riddled world. And in doing so, you will become a true child of God. #CreatedForMore #APurposeDrivenLife
