Called to Generosity

God has blessed us immensely. He has given every spiritual and physically blessing we have. All we have is due to God’s goodness. All we own is just lent to us by God – it is not really ours.

This reality should help us become the generous people we are called to be. God does not want us hoarding our blessings. He wants us to share them with others and to willing give them back to Him. Being generous shows others we are not tied to our physical blessings and that we understand they aren’t really ours anyway to hoard.

If we don’t develop a generous spirit, then by default we develop a selfish spirit. One prone to hoarding, greed, and resentment. A generous spirit shares willingly what he or she can – whether that’s physical blessings like money, abstract blessings like time, or spiritual blessings like the gospel. And a generous spirit loves giving because it helps others by providing them what they need.

God loves cheerful giver. One who willing gives what he or she has and gives it gladly.

We are called to generosity to highlight God’s generous nature and to do God’s work while we are here on this earth. You can either be generous or selfish – there’s really not middle ground. God loves one and He despises the other. #CreatedForMore #APurposeDrivenLife
