Called to Holiness

We are not called to live a life of impurity – a life in which we indulge ourselves in sinful activities and thoughts because it is what we want. We are called to live a life of holiness – a life separate from those impurities. Yet it is easier to live the former than the latter.

Living a holy life requires self restraint and discipline. It requires sacrifice and spiritual growth to see the truth about those worldly desires. And all of that is incredibly difficult especially since the world is very much a “get and do what you want” type of place.

It is also hard because of the guilt, disappointment, and sorrow we will when we slip up and fall back into our former life of impurity. We often struggle with thinking “well what’s the point, I’ll never get this right.” It’s a hard mental battle to overcome.

Holiness is like a blanket of snow perfect and clean in ever way. So, when we choose impurity we sully that perfect snow. And then there’s nothing WE can do about it.

But God knew this and provided us Jesus whose blood continually cleanses us from our sins and returns our snow back to its perfect state. (1 John 1:7)

Living a life of holiness is not about living a perfect life – it is about living a life that is pure and focused on removing impurities. Like Jesus take care of the rest.

We are called to live a holy life which provides a stark contrast to the lives of the world. In that holy life, others see God living in us. #CreatedForMore #APurposeDrivenLife
