Ambassadors are official envoys or representatives of a higher position or larger state or government. Ambassadors due the work of the leader or government they were sent to represent. Their reputations matter. The quality of their work matters.
As followers of Christ we are called to be His ambassadors here on earth. We are called to be His representatives of His name. We are called to be His agents working for His mission.
Ambassadors are incredibly important. They are the face and workers of someone or something more important than them. They are also not pursuing their own wills or desires but the will of their sender.
In the world of diplomacy, ambassadors are carefully chosen and held to high standards. They are expected to do you job, do it well, and reflect positively on who you are representing. Otherwise, they get fired and are not asked to continue to represent the state.
If that is the expectation for diplomats, how much higher are the expectations for God’s ambassadors.
We are God’s ambassadors on earth. We are called to bring the message of love, reconciliation and forgiveness to the world. We are Christ’s representatives. So, next time you can’t find a purpose to your life remember – you’ve been called to serve as an ambassador for the Most High King and Lord of Lords. There is no better and higher calling.
