Today is the Lord’s Day.
Why do we worship the Lord? Because He has blessed us immensely. He has given us all we need physically and even more importantly spiritually. There is nothing we need that God has not given or provide us.
Yet some of us have more while others have less. How can that be fair you may wonder? Jesus addressed part of this question in His parable of the talents in Matthew 25. The servants were given my their master different amounts of money but were all held to the same standard of how they used them. They were required to use them to their best ability. They were required to be good stewards of what they had been given and show growth from what they had.
Now, one servant had 10, one 5, and one 1. When the master came back the servant with 1 was not expect to have shown the same growth and use as the one with 10. He just needed to show he appreciated and work hard with what he had been given. So yes, some have more talents but Jesus didn’t stop his story there.
The first two did that – they worked hard, took care of what they had been given, and produced more for the master. The last hid his one talent. Perhaps he was just lazy or maybe he was scared to lose his one or embarrassed by just having one. But when he returned with the same one talent – He greatly displeased his master and was punished while the others were rewarded for their hard work and stewardship.
So, some here on earth some of us will be blessed with more than others but God will expect those who have more to have more to show to Him when He returns.
We are commanded to be good stewards of all the many blessings God has given us – both physical and spiritual. Peter tells us to use those blessings to serve others to show God’s grace to others.
Our purpose in life isn’t to be the servant with one talent – hoarding what we have and not using it for God. No. We are to be like the faithful hardworking servants who took what they had and created more returns for their master. God has given us our blessings not so we have hoard them or just use them for ourselves. He has given them to us so we have serve others to show them God’s grace and love.
We are to be stewards of God’s blessings. Everything we have comes from God. Once we realize and accept that it becomes easier to use all of our blessings and belongings in the service of others FOR God.
To whom much is given, much will be expected.
Do not be the lazy, scared, self centered servant who hoarded what he was given for himself.
Be a hard working, faithful, selfless servant who gives who willing uses he has be given to glorify and please God.
You were created to steward God’s blessings in the service of others. #CreatedForMore #APurposeDrivenLife
