So many people feel unseen and believe that no one wants them or needs them. In fact, we all struggle with those feelings sometimes. We feel alone. We feel unwanted. We feel unneeded. It’s the whole “It’s a Wonderful Life” question. Does your life really matter? Does it have a purpose? Does it truly influence and affect others?
When those feelings creep up or even begin to overwhelm you, remember that God has CHOSEN you to exclaim His excellencies. He has CHOSEN to call you out of darkness to step into His amazing light. Peter tells us that God has done all those things (1 Peter 2:9).
And really consider Peter as He writes this. He was a poor fisherman. No influence. No money. He most likely felt at some point in His life as a fisherman that His life had little meaning. Sitting on the water doing the same thing every day – He would have had time to think about all the ways He wished His life was or all the ways He felt unseen or unneeded or His true potential unused. But one day, after a long day of fishing – Peter was personally called by Jesus. “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4)!” Immediately, Peter dropped His nets and followed the Lord and embraced God’s true mission for His life.
Satan wants you to feel unneeded and unwanted. He wants you to feel under utilized or unseen. He wants to keep you in the dark about your true potential.
But God wants you. He needs you. He helps you realize your true potential which is not to bring you glory but exclaim God’s goodness. And if you accept His mission and embrace your God given potential, you will influence others for Him! Just like Peter, you will become something more than you were. You will be transformed and your life will bring God glory and help others find His marvelous light!
You were chosen for more.
