Approximately 500 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Daniel prophesied that one day the Son of Man would be given dominion over all things and His kingdom would last for ever and ever.
Jesus declared himself that person repeatedly in his three years and change of teaching. The Son of Man came to serve Jesus declares in Matthew 20:28.
What does it mean to be the Son of Man? It meant that the messiah would be born of man – he would be a son of Adam. So, Jesus emptied himself and humble himself to leave Heaven and all His glory to become a man. Why would Jesus do this? Well there are actually lots of reasons:
🧍🏽To provide the perfect sacrifice for man’s sins.
🧍🏽To experience life as a human.
🧍🏽To share in (and withstand) the temptations Satan.
🧍🏽To provide humanity the a visible image of God.
🧍🏽To give us the perfect example.
God came to live as one of His creations. He did this to share in our lives – sufferings, joys, disappointments, sadnesses, pains, and temptation. He wanted to share in those experiences so that He could empathsize with our sufferings and life experiences first hand.
Jesus lived the perfect life as a man to show us how we should all strive to live. His human life is the perfect model for our lives.
And Jesus died as a man – unjustly – for the sins of all mankind. Man’s sin required death as payment. The wages of sin is death. Yet, because Jesus is God His perfect life and His deity allowed for His death to pay the ransom (Matthew 20:28) for all mankind’s sins.
So, Jesus came as the Son of Man so he could pay the ransom of mankind’s sins. He came and lived and died as a man to share in our experiences so he could enpathsize with us as we live our lives. He became a Man to show us God to the human eyes.
Blessed be the Son of Man.
