I love growing roses. My back fence is lined with red roses and ever year I plant more. Roses are sturdy and gorgeous. They can grow in a lot of different climates and hard to kill once you’ve established them. Roses are the universal language for love and beauty.
In the Bible, roses are used to symbolize perfection and love. And while we don’t know precisely what flower is being referenced when the phrase “rose of Sharon” appears due to translation differences, we do know that the flower was gorgeous, perfect, and symbolized deep love.
In the Song of Solomon (chapter 2), the bride calls herself the Rose of Sharon for her husband (Solomon). Yet, this description is also symbolic of Jesus. It represents Jesus perfect love for us. It highlights that Jesus’ love can grow anywhere. It shows us that Jesus’ love can endure all types of situations.
Jesus is our rose given to us by God. He is perfect and shows us God’s eternal love for us. 🌹🌹🌹
“I am the rose of Sharon, the lily of the valley.” (Sg of Solomon 2:1)
