Prince of Peace

Today is the Lord’s day (and in conjunction with our study of the names of Jesus) so why do we worship the Lord? Because Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

Chaos and tension and strike and anger surround us. Nations war. People rage. To make matters worse, anxiety, depression, and turmoil rip through us internally. Even if the small section of world around us is at peace we often are at war with ourselves. And finally, our souls are constantly searching for reprieve and release from the chaos sin brings it.

So, who do we turn to find peace? Isaiah describes Jesus as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9).

While Jesus’ won’t come down and zap the world to give us global peace, His teachings help us learn how to bring a small part of peace into this world. If we embrace Jesus, when the world around us rages – we try to bring peace to the situation. We follow our Prince and become peacemakers.

When our minds turns against us and we struggle with depression and anxieties, who can help us calm the storms of our mind? Jesus. We know that Jesus is there for us. His presence, love, and care help us fight off the darkness in our minds.

And finally, Jesus provides the peace from sin for our souls. His death provides our reconciliation back to God. Our souls can be at peace with our creator again because of Jesus.

Jesus is the source of our peace – externally, internally, and eternally – and that is why we worship Him!
