Have you ever been to a buffet and couldn’t decide what you wanted to eat because there were so many choices? Or maybe you’ve gone shopping and ended up coming home empty handed because you couldn’t pick between all your options. This happens to humans a lot. We get overwhelmed by the plethora of options and once overwhelmed it is difficult to make a decision. We get confused. We often choose something we didn’t intend originally. Let’s just “less is more” can be very true.
Our approach to spirituality and religion is the same way. Humanity has created so many different options for God and pathways to God. In fact it is the over abundance of “religiosity” and “churches” that is at the root at the decline of spirituality in the United Sates. God did not intend for it to be this way. God is not the author of confusion. God is very straightforward with us.
There is:
One Body (the church)
One Spirit (God’s spirit)
One hope (Heaven/salvation)
One Lord (Christ – the head & Lord of the Church)
One faith (acceptable, active, obedient faith in God)
One baptism (baptism into Christ death)
One God & Father of all (Jehovah)
Some look at the oneness or singularness of God and find it exclusionary or boring and limiting. But the truth is the oneness of God is a blessing. God hasn’t attempted to confuse us or overwhelm us with options. There is one path and it leads straight to Jehovah. Christ. There is salvation under no other name.
All other roads and signs and options and choices are lies of the Devil. And unlike God, Satan DOES want to confuse you. He DOES want to distract you. He DOES want you to get overwhelmed and give up.
Don’t get lost in the forest of the Devil. Focus on the one strong singular tree that stands high above the others. It is the true tree – God’s mighty oak. Let it lead you home.
