Have you ever been thrust into a situation you weren’t prepared for? Or given a task or job but not given all the necessary equip and tools to complete that task? Perhaps you like military history and you’ve studied the countless times soldiers have been put into situations by politicians or rulers without the right gear or strategy and how when that happens failure follows. Or maybe you’ve put yourself in that situation. You’ve decided you wanted to do a DYI project or engage in some physical activity but you’ve not made sure you have all the tools you need to be successful? In other words, you’ve bitten off more than you can chew? In fact, in all this situations generally failure is inevitable. How can you succeed if you don’t have all the facts, materials, or equipment necessary for the task?
Our greatest task given us is to stand up against the Devil. But God hasn’t given us that job without the necessary equipment to make that stand. God has provided us an entire set of armor and given us the necessary weapons to engage in the fight.
God’s complete set of armor:
🛡️The Belt of Truth.
🛡️The Breastplate of Righteousness.
🛡️The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace.
🛡️The Shield of Faith.
🛡️The Helmet of Salvation.
🛡️The Sword of the Spirit which is God’s Word.
God has given you everything you need to successful fight off the Devil. He hasn’t left you defenseless. He hasn’t put you in a no win scenario. He hasn’t given you an impossible task. He has given you His complete set of armor. And with it the wiles, schemes, and attacks of the Devil stand no chance.
But often we are stubborn and arrogant and foolhearty. And sometimes we don’t put on the complete set of armor. Or sometimes we don’t put it on at all. These are the moments the Devil is waiting and watching for. He prowls around in the tall grass like a lion and is camouflaged by his surroundings. He watches us as we leave our homes defeneseless. He waits until the right moment – when mentally we are farther from that armor than we’ve ever been. He lures us into safety by waiting patiently to strike. He delays his attack until the moment we least expect it. And he has all the time in the world to wait (that is until Jesus returns and time is no more). So he waits, watches, lures, and the eventually attacks. Without God’s armor we stand no chance against the attacks of Satan.
God’s armor is our defense against the Devil. God’s word is our weapon against his lies and allies. God’s shield protects us from endless doubt. God’s breastplate protects our heart from wickedness. God’s helmet protects our mind from arrogance and self assurance. God’s shoes protect our feet on the rocky grounds of this hard life. God’s belt of truth holds the entire armor set together.
So, while we may not be physical war never forget you are still engaged in a zero sum war. There is no middle ground. No cease fire. No negotiated peace. You will either wear the God of armor and stand victorious to see the salvation of your soul. Or, you will fall and be defeated by Satan. And there will be times were we stumble or where Satan has his momentarily victory over us on the battlefield because we’ve lost some of God’s armor and decided to give it go without it. This are the make or break times. The moments that will decide the outcome of our stand against Satan. We can give up after this small losses to Satan or put God’s armor back on and keep pressing forward.
Don’t go into the most important battle of your life defenseless. Don’t try to use your own armor or someone else’s. Those armors are flawed – they have weaknesses. Only God’s armor is perfect. Only God’s armor can stand against Satan.
Put it on and join the fight against the powers of Satan! Protect yourself and fight for Jehovah!
