If you’ve ever tried to build something, one of the first things you’ll need is a good strong foundation. It needs to be level and sturdy. Otherwise, whatever you’re building will lean or be uneven and eventually it will have structural problems because it was not built upon a level strong foundation.
As we begin to wind down our spiritual blessings
month, let’s focus on the blessing of Christ as our foundation. God has given us the perfect foundation to build our lives upon. He hasn’t required us to find one or build one ourselves. No – He has provided us access to the perfection cornerstone – Jesus Christ.
Yet so many try to build their lives on other foundations. They think they can build a better foundation. Or, they simply don’t want to use God’s foundation and attempt to make their own. In either case, all other foundations fail. Only Christ can weather the rains and storms of time, chaos, sin, and death. All other foundations will be crumbled and be washed away. (Matthew 7)
God did not put us in this world without providing us the most secure cornerstone to build on our lives upon. We can either build our lives on the Rock or the sand. There is no middle option. No other foundation.
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18
“Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4
King David repeatedly referred to the Lord as His rock. Both Peter and Paul call Christ our cornerstone. And Jesus Himself equates His work to the rock.
Stop looking to other places, people, religious expressions, and even self for your life’s foundation. All of those other lesser options will fail. They will crumble. They will be washed away. Only Jesus Christ – the only begotten Son of Jehovah – is our Rock and our Cornerstone. He will serve as the perfect foundation for your life in this world and in the next!
