Spiritual Blessing: Workmanship

Have you ever made something with your hands? Worked on it and worked on it until it was what you wanted or needed? I have. It is an amazing experience to take all the different individual components and work with them until they make something new. However, if you’re like me, once you make it you can almost immediately point out its flaws or the things you wished you had done differently. In other words, it’s not perfect. But still you’re proud of it and it is what you wanted to make so the you can live with the imperfections.

Well, we are God’s work. He crafted us from clay. He breathed life and our eternal soul into us. We were made perfectly but we brought imperfections into God’s work through sin. But God didn’t see those imperfections and write us off. No. He still loved us. So, He decided instead of living with the imperfections – He would continue to work on us to return us to our perfected state.

God works and works on us. Through good times and bad times – through easy lessons and hard lessons. He continues to mold and shape us into the perfect creation. He fixes the imperfections. He smooths out the rough edges. He strengthens the weak spots. We are the clay in His hands.

And He has made us for a purpose. Not just to sit and being a pretty knickknack on the shelf. No – we are created for work! To do good productive work for God. He has given His work a purpose and we find that purpose in Jesus Christ.

You know, the world is full of books and gurus and experts who all tell you how to fix your life or turn it into the life you want or how to overcome. And I’m know many of those books great advice (I’ve even read a few!) but those books and gurus they’ll never make you perfect. They’ll never help you find your true calling and purpose. Only your Maker can do that. Only the one who created you knows what you were created for and only He can help you achieve your true purpose. And that is a true blessing – you don’t have to fret or worry about what your life purpose is. You don’t have to wonder. God has created you and is molding you. He has created you for His purpose – to do good works. Your life’s meaning isn’t a secret. And God wants to help you find it.

Jehovah is the master potter. He doesn’t mind getting His hands dirty and working hard to salvage your life? Why? Because He made you. He loves you. He knows you were made for better things – good things.

And, it doesn’t matter how broken you think your life is – nothing is beyond repair for God. Give your life to God – let Him mold you into the person and purpose you were meant to be!
