Leaving an inheritance is an incredibly important notion to humanity. Through history and in cultures, leaving an inheritance is incredibly important as is who receives the inheritance. In many places, cultures, and times only first borns males receive the full inheritance. The rest of the children would receive the secondary inheritance if they inherited at all. And, lots of people hope they get a big inheritance. People squabble and fight over who gets possessions, keepsakes, land, and money all in this hunt to get a large inheritance.
The inheritance though that people covet and fight over today is a temporal gift. It won’t last no matter what it is and you won’t get to take it with you when you die either.
There is however one inheritance that is for everyone and will last forever. God’s inheritance.
By sending and sacrificing Jesus, God created an inheritance – salvation – that would be for ALL of his children and would last forever. God’s inheritance isn’t just for the first born. And it won’t run out or disappear. God’s inheritance will bring you peace in this life and salvation in the next. It is the ultimate inheritance.
God’s inheritance is open to everyone. He wants everyone to partake in His gift. Stop looking and hoping for an inheritance to that won’t last. God’s given everyone the opportunity to have an eternal inheritance that will never fade or end. All you must do is become His child and stay true to Him until the end. He’ll take care of the rest.
God’s inheritance isn’t silver or gold. It is the gift of eternal life. I know which one I want to inherit. Do you?
