Today is the Lord’s Day.
Why do we worship Jehovah?
Because He is our anchor – our everlasting rock. This life is hard and tumultous. It is like the ocean. Calm on moment and then raging the next. It is easy to get lost and drown in the depth of chaos and sadness and disappointments and problems of this life.
But God did not leave us in the ocean of life to drown. He is the anchor of our boat so we don’t get aimless float. He is our lighthouse when the darkness covers our life. He is our rock fo refuge we can swim to and find rest.
If we keep our minds fixed in God, he will turn our raging ocean into the perfect peaceful mountain lake. He will be the tower mountain sheltering our lake from the winds.
Now, this doesn’t mean there won’t be waves and chaos and hard times on our life’s lake. But, He has turned the raging ocean into a mountain lake. You won’t drown there if you keep your eyes fixed in Him and trust in Him always.
We worship God because He tethers our mind and anchors our soul. He provides us the ability to find calmness in this life when the winds howl and the waves grow large. He turns those ocean storms into mountain lakes.
And, who doesn’t love an alpine lake? Calm and still underneath the mighty mountain?
