Spiritual Blessing: Purpose

Purpose is such an important motivator. My running coach hammers it home every run. Whats the purpose of this run? It is important to him for his runners to find the deeper purpose to their runs and not just the superficial reasons. Why? Because sometimes you don’t want to run or the runs are hard or you get tired of running and it’s the deeper more meaningful purpose to running that keeps you going.

One of the most philosophical questions ask is “what is my purpose?” Humanity struggles finding meaning to their life and we are constantly looking for purpose. And we find purpose in a lot of different places – some good and some bad. But even those reasons fade. You live for your spouse – well one day they or you will die. What then? You live for your children – one day your relationship will change. What then? You live for your job – one day you lose it or tire of it. What then?

As my coach would say – none of those are bad purposes but they are more superficial purposes.

Paul tells us outright that we exist for the purpose of God’s will. God created the plan of salvation and the pathway for our adoption for His purpose. Our purpose is be holy and blameless so we can partake in God’s eternal purpose for our souls. We don’t have to wonder about life’s purpose or meaning. We don’t have to tireless search. And, we shouldn’t park our life’s purpose in the superficial spots. God has given us deeper purpose – to be partakes in His will.

Don’t wander through life wondering what the point of your life is or what the true purpose of living is. God has given you purpose. He has given you a purpose that should motivate you one the hard days, bring you satisfaction in the good days, and give you a light in the darkness on the bad days.

Our life’s purpose is to become adopted sons of God. He predestined our purpose before the foundations of the world were even made.

Your life has purpose and meaning – it always has. God doesn’t want you to wander through this life aimlessly. He knows that makes you a target for Satan. Embrace God’s will for your life and you’ll never have to wonder what the point of life is again.
