When I was in elementary school we still played games like dodge ball or Red Rover. And, sometimes the PE teacher would like students pick their fellow teammates. So, it was exciting to be chosen especially near the top. The earlier your name was called meant your classmates saw you as more valuable. In short, we all wanted to be chosen first and no one wanted to be picked last.
That desire doesn’t disappear as we get older. We want to be the first friend invited – the first called – the first to know a secret. We all want to be valued. We all want to be chosen.
What if I told you, there was a way that you’d never have to search for that feeling again? You’d never have to wonder if you were going to be chosen and valued. Well, there is!
God chose His people before the foundations of the earth were made. Paul tells that God has chosen you!And the Apostle Paul doesn’t mean He hand picked individual souls and left the others out (much like the dodge ball line). What Paul means is God chose the type of people that would please Him and the type of people that He would view as His children and the type of people He would protect from Satan and the type of people He would save!
The people God has chosen can be anyone but decides to give their life back to God. These people value God above themselves. These are the people God chose. To be chosen by God is an immense spiritual blessing. It means He values us. It means he sees us. It means He has a purpose for us. It means He prefers us!
And the best part of God’s choosing is that it is discriminatory based on talents or wealth or status or influence or power or any of the reasons why we get picked for earthly teams. No. God’s choosing is discriminatory in only one way – your heart. If you have a heart for God this means you are willing to give it and your life back to Him. Because of that, God has chosen YOU to be part of His team! And, He picked you first – before the foundations of the earth! You weren’t last or an afterthought. Nope. You were No. 1!
Be part of God’s chosen team! Give your heart to God and He will choose YOU! You never have to be let standing alone again!
