The End of the Matter

Today is the Lord’s Day.

Solomon tried it all. Money. Power. Friends. Women. Stuff. Prestige. Work. Laziness. Pleasure. Parties. Knowledge. Everything this world has to the answer to life’s meaning and fulfillment, Solomon tried. And every single one came back empty and meaningless. Why was that? Was it necessarily wrong to work hard and gain more money and physical belongings? No. Was it wrong to work hard and study to become more intelligent? No. Was it wrong to enjoy life? No. Was it wrong to relax and rest? No. What was missing then? Why did Solomon determine all these things were empty and useless?

Reflecting back on his life, Solomon realizes what or rather who was missing from it. God. The proper fear and respect of God would have given Solomon the self control he clearly lacked. God would have provided him the perspectives on life he was searching for. God would have instructed him in the ways to go and NOT to go. God would have saved him the heart ache of regret and given him the comfort he needed in times of sorrow and disappointment. Solomon realizes without God everything is vanity.

So, why do we worship Jehovah every Lord’s Day? Because with Him, our hearts are a puzzle missing the most important central piece – God.

A completed heart puzzle not only includes God but makes sure to put Him in the correct place – the center. Once we make God our centerpiece everything else falls into place. We fear God for He is source of everything – in this life and the next. We fear and respect God because He is the Eternal Judge who will call every deed we’ve ever committed (secret or not) into account. He obey God and keep His commandments because He is the source of Truth and Wisdom. He wants us to enjoy life within the limits He has created – not just for rules sake but to ensure us a life of peace and joy and lacking in regret.

Nothing in this life matters. It is all empty and vain. And, death comes to all. UNLESS – you put and keep God as the centerpiece to your heart’s puzzle. If you do, God has promised to help you in this life. Serving God will given everything else in this life meaning abd fill your life with purpose. Fearing and obeying Gos will save you from death because God will call us all to judgment.

Only Jehovah can give your life meaning and give your eternal life. And, that is why we worship Him every Lord’s day and keep Him in the center of our hearts every single day.
