Check Your Attitude at the Door

Today is the Lord’s Day.

Sometimes we approach going to “church” as a rote habit. We get used to the order, the song leaders, the songs, the Bible classes, and more. We put our brains on autopilot and complete our “spiritual day” which very little (if any) real worshipping. Other times we come and we don’t really listen to the Biblical principles presented. We can for sure point out the people who hope were listening but do very little (if any) self application and reflection. And because we don’t really think about being in God’s house – in the very presence of Jehovah – we let our minds become distracted with our phones, lunch, the week’s to do list, and more.

Both are very wrong.

Solomon tells us we need to be very careful when we come to the House of God to worship Him. He tells us it is better to listen and actually learn than to “make the sacrifice of a fool.” Solomon also tells us that those foolish empty versions of worship are evil.

We are going to the House of God today to worship the Creator and the source of our Salvation. We are going to thank Him for his love, forgiveness, and mercy. We are going to thank him for the blessings he has given us. we are going to show God we recognize and accept that we are not the master of our lives and our fate. He is.

Anything less than that is the sacrifice of a fool and it is evil to God.

So, check your attitude before you walk into God’s house today. Remember, it’s not about you – it’s about Jehovah. Remember, it’s not just a gathering of the saints. It is the House of God and you are in the very presence of the Almighty so guard your steps and focus your mind.
