Truth & Contentment

I’ve now read through the Proverbs for two straight months. So much Godly wisdom to digest. Ultimately the Proverbs teach us that fear and respect for God is the only pathway to successful life – both here on earth and eternally. The fear and respect we have for God direct influences how we act and think. We respect others. We are slow to anger. We listen instead of talk. We control our spirits and minds. We work hard. We value internal beauty. We focus on accumulating spiritual wealth over physical wealth. We muzzle our mouths. We help those in need. We stand up against injustice and oppression. We prefer God’s wisdom to man’s.

In my opinion one of the best summation proverbs can be found in the proverbs written by Agur. He ask God to give him just two things before he dies:

⭐️ The removal of lies and falsehoods from his mouth.
⭐️ The wealth nor poverty. Just what he needs.

Here we see so many of the Proverb themes summaries.

This world tells us we need more and more and more. It tells us to lie to get ahead and use our mouths in ways that promote ourselves over others even at the expense of truth.

These are lies the world has always told. They are temptations we all face and all have faced before us. Ultimately, Agur prays for God to give him just two things in this life:

⭐️Truth.
⭐️ Contentment.

This two pillars are the foundations of a Godly life and are two of the strongest shields against Satan’s oldest and most successful tactics: Lies and Desire.

Root your life in God’s truth. Be satisfied with what He provides. If you can embrace those two principles, the rest of the Proverbs will make complete sense and will be much easier to implement in your day to day life.
