One day while Jesus was teaching, a man came to Jesus with his demon possessed son. He was distraught and begged Jesus to heal his son. He told Jesus that he had brought his son to Jesus’s disciples and they said they could not help him. Jesus did heal the man’s son but was incredibly frustrated with His disciples when they asked Jesus, “why couldn’t we cast out the demon?”
I can just imagine Jesus sighing to Himself. His time with His disciples was almost up and they were still putting limits on God’s power and on the power of their own faith. He finally responded:
“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Jesus declares to his disciples that faith in God is so powerful that even then smallest amount like a mustard seed – if it’s true to God – can move the greatest things like mountains. Why can our faith do this? Because it is linked to the power of the one true God.
Just like the disciples who put limits on God and His power, we often try to put God in a box. We put limits on His power. And just like the disciples by doing so we are not able to achieve the great things God intends for us to achieve? Why? Because we don’t really believe God can do it. And just like with the disciples, Jesus frustratingly says to us:
“You unbelieving and perverse generation…you have so little faith.”
Even the smallest amount of faith can have a huge impact. Why? Because it believes in Jehovah. Don’t put God in a box. Don’t limit His power. Have the faith that can move mountains. 🏔️🏔️🏔️ #themountainsofgod #mountaineeringforgod
